If things went your way all the time
then where can faith be found
in the substance of things hoped for
in your pride you’d be bound

no reliance on God at all
forgotten set aside
He’d soon become nothing important
unwanted deep inside

allowing the enemy’s ploy
that you alone shall rate
in doing things all by yourself
on God you need not wait
____
but someday when you need it most
no answer shall there be
the Holy Spirit is silent
because God is not pleased
____
without faith it’s impossible
to please God in our prayers
a constant need to wait on Him
in hope of answers there
____
circumstances that go one’s way
are dangerous to heed
because the comfort which it brings
indifference it shall breed
____
but willingness to follow Christ
in submission and trust
shall help one grow living by faith
that God had deemed as just
